Royal Treatment
Posted 01/11/2008 @ 12 :30 AM

On days like today where I was chained to my desk at work, I often think about the "professional" life of a tennis player and am overcome with jealousy and, well, more jealousy. Sure, they get to play tennis for a living, and yes it's expensive and demanding on the body, but if your ranking is decent enough, you probably could enter 5-10 events in addition to the grand slams, lose first round, and easily make six figures.

However, the money's not the important part. And I'm not talking about the trophies and the titles either. I'm taking about the parties and the events in all the cities around the world. Seems like one big party to me.

Think about it...imagine if every single Monday your boss threw you and our co-workers a party just for showing up. I wonder if I'd work harder or feel more loyal.

Basically that's life on the WTA and ATP tour.

Here's a clip from a recent WTA player's party in Sydney and a player "outing" last year down under as well.

With all that food and champagne, I wonder who fights the fights the temptation and who gives in like those contestants did the other night on The Biggest Loser: Team Edition.

And, if parties aren't enough, how about outings sportscars to interest you. Here are a few ATP players along with the WTA's Anastasia Myskina taking a tour of the Sydney Tour exhibit and Tomas Berdych taking a Mercedes SLK 55 for a spin over the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Steer clear of him on the road. He's going awfully slow.

Really, I can't blame them though. I'd have a hard time sitting still in Sydney too.

I LOVE how you have a clip of them driving an SLK :)! Was it yellow? On the tennis front, if I was as in shape as a tennis player on tour, Id wanna show it off at the parties too :)
