Murray vs. Federer
Posted 09/08/2008 @ 4 :18 PM

Going for Grand Slam number one versus going for Grand Slam number 13 -- who will have the stronger desire? That's what this final might come down to, that and nerves.

For Murray, he certainly has a ton of desire, although he wouldn't be the first player to reach their first Grand Slam final and then just be happy to get there. Additionally, Murray might feel a ton of nerves (or go out swinging). These nerves can paralyze a player, especially know that the man standing across the net is approaching yet, more history. That, added to the intense pressure from all of Great Britain should be quite a bit for Murray to handle.

Here's how folks back home in Scotland are reacting to Murray's success...

For Federer, they key is keeping his head on straight as he continues to make history and attempts to get his year back on track. It's pretty sad that reaching three Grand Slam finals and one slam semifinal has been seen as a failed year for Federer, but with one more match win, all that can be erased. My guess is that Fed might fight some nerves at the start, but will be smooth sailing from then on out.

Enjoy!
