First Few Days in Beijing
Posted 08/08/2008 @ 1 :26 AM

2008_08_07_ivanovic2_blog_2Injury update: Ana reacted well to osteopathic treatment on Saturday. The strength has been restored in her right thumb and much of the pain has been alleviated. A decision as to her participation will be made after practice on Sunday. Her first round match against Mariya Koryttseva is scheduled to take place on Monday.

I was expecting Beijing to be very different to anything I’ve experienced before and so far that’s very true!

This is my first trip to China and I was amazed by how many people were waiting at the airport to welcome athletes. I’ve never seen so many supporters and photographers before, it was crazy!

Being in the Olympic Village is also very interesting, and so different to staying in a hotel like I do at most tournaments. I am sharing an apartment with other Serbian athletes; I travel together with other athletes to the venue in buses, and eat dinner with them in the restaurants. The Olympic Village is a busy place full of energy and excitement.

The humidity here is incredible, it's like 100%! It creates a haze that makes it hard to even see! I had practice at 10am this morning and they had to turn the lights on because it’s so foggy you can’t see across the court! It’s going to be very tough conditions during the matches.

Unfortunately my thumb is still painful and I cannot practice. I am still having laser treatment on it, but it’s very frustrating, not being able to prepare as I would like. I just hope it heals very soon.

My bags got lost again! It was a bit of a worry because I have a special Olympics outfit to wear, but luckily they arrived today. Security here is very high so there was a delay in receiving them after they had been located.

I’m looking forward to the tournament starting, and the chance to go and watch some other sports, like volleyball and diving.

Love
Ana

hmmm, 100% humidity and Foggy???? I dint get that.
WEll, I hope her thumb heals soon.....cause we want to see u win, Ana!

nandini: Fog can be formed from water vapor and humidity is an amount of water-vapor in the air.
So if the humidity is around 100% it creates fog.

Ana,
How and when you hurt your thimb? Noticed the protective wrap while practice was commencing in Montreal. And, when do you think your thumb will be completely healed?

Is Ana actually reading this comments? It seems like this blog was just copied from her website.

why do all the women players get hurt all the time sharapova is out and davenport is out of singles what is going on in the wta

Afwu1216,
I asked my question just in case a person who is handling her website reads this.

if the humidity was 100%...the air would be saturated and it'd be raining...not just foggy.

Hi all--I will forward comments to her team at the end of the tournament

cool on her to do this, or did tennis.com ask for it?
Of course they did, stupid question from me.

By the way, that Kournikova piece was brilliant.

Sarah Thurmond, she did a great job.

The Kournikova piece was very, very good. And to those of you who are pedantic enough to complain about Ana's off the cuff remark with respect to the high humidity, wow.

Go Ana!!!!!!! hope the thumb heels!! interested to see your dress:):):) U can beat maryia. GOOD LUCK o ya and this is really off topic but alize cornet should go out with gilles simon and someone tell Tatiana to dump Jokaim Noah

Where is Ana's blog for today?

good luck ana!! we know you'll do well!
hope the thumb feels better!
