Indy Crisis Center, 7.26 07/26/2007 - 11:00 AM

Some of you may have noticed, perusing this website, that it is frequented by quite a large contingent of sexist, shallow, cliquish, hormonally-driven and lustful tennis freaks to whom, it often seems, Hottness is all. And the men who read this blog aren' always all that high-minded, either. . . But let's leave them out of it for now.Frankie

Ladies, here's your chance to lay all your cards on the table. I am asking each of you to step up and submit your Hott 5, in order of Hottness (hottest guy at No. 1). Feel free to add a comment to each of your choices, but keep it brief. Oh, and you men, you can talk Federer's slice backhand or something. . .

We'll do this in honor of Frankie, aka Tire Boy, who took out Juan Del Potro yesterday in Indianapolis.  I am due back from Newfoundland Sunday night, so have a great weekend.

Sherlock - my husband often says the same things. He is really not very interested in
"celebrity types". he always says he can see more talent at our local beach - hmm
maybe that is why he is always going surfin'
I must think about this.

Posted by Sherlock 07/26/2007 at 08:50 PM

Btw, who mentioned Waske earlier? mmmm8, I believe. Nice call. I forgot about him. Definite man crush for me there. :) Not in Rafter/Enqvist territory, but not bad.

Posted by Celia 07/26/2007 at 08:50 PM

Can anyone tell me how to post links? PLEASE?
P.S. If I have offended anyone in the past, I am truly sorry. And I understand that some of you may have different tastes than I do. I have said this before and I'll say it again: I flove guys with dark hair/looks. There's just something about it that I love. I thimk I get it from my mom's side because my aunt and cousins also love guys with dark hair/looks. I don't like blondes, but, hey, that's me.

Posted by DMS 07/26/2007 at 08:52 PM

LOL Beth...that was just a man confession you happened to hear him accidently say, remember to filter!

Posted by Beth 07/26/2007 at 08:54 PM

well - this has been a fun one
but - I have got to go - my own Lotus driving , surfin hottie is gonna take me out for a drink
ya see - right now we have no kids at home - but that all changes saturday - with Jake's return - I can hardly wait to see him - but a little fun out with the husband is gonna be nice.
Talk to you all tomorrow.

Posted by fastbowler 07/26/2007 at 08:55 PM

It's a HOTT-ness pile up! I guess I'll say:

1) Roger Federer's Hair
2) Janko Tipsarevic's angst about The Idiot's "Inner Beauty Will Save The World. And I Belive This."
3) Marat Safin's headcase-ness
4) Tommy Robredo's 24 (the show) devotion
5) Roger Federer's metrosexual + adorkableness self (LOVE that combo)

Is that Dancevic's pic above? Me likey!

There are other former players that held my interest too, but I kept it to the current. (Derrick Rostagno, where are you?)

Posted by Tari 07/26/2007 at 08:55 PM

Well, thanks for the wine DMS, and the REAL beer, Sherlock! ;-) I think I'm good now. :)) And you know I accept all hugs, Beth. Again, sorry Jenn. Yikes.

Aww..Sherlock. Ever the charmer!

Posted by Liz (for Federer 4-ever) 07/26/2007 at 08:57 PM

Roger DOES NOT look like Quentin Tarrantino. Puhlease

Posted by Sherlock 07/26/2007 at 08:58 PM

DMS, agreed. :) Not to mention the fact that half the WTA is so young. Don't know how old you are, but that troubles me a bit, as I'm double legal. :)

Now, if we can throw in non-active players, well then, Miss Steffi come on over to my table. Hubba hubba.

Posted by Celia 07/26/2007 at 08:59 PM

Can anyone PLEASE answer my question?

Posted by Teemuh 07/26/2007 at 09:01 PM
Posted by AmyLu 07/26/2007 at 09:02 PM

Celia, to post a link you should use the tinyurl link that Pete put on another page. Then, just cut and paste the tinyurl here, and you'll be all set!

Sherlock and DMS, you really think it would be hard to come up with lists on the women's side? JJ has no trouble coming up with lists...

Posted by DMS 07/26/2007 at 09:04 PM

Tell me about it sherlock...tell me about it, we in the same boat!

btw, why you calling me meat...i am the one driving the Actually, hit beckham with one today when she told me over on other thread she was going to a wedding and stressing about it, talk about falling your lap.

Posted by DMS 07/26/2007 at 09:05 PM

Celia: just cut and paste the url into the comments...if it is too long, run it through tiny url like she says.

Posted by DMS 07/26/2007 at 09:06 PM

Amylu: is JJ a girl?

Posted by AmyLu 07/26/2007 at 09:09 PM

No, JJ is Juan Jose...he doesn't post all that often any more.

Posted by Teemuh 07/26/2007 at 09:09 PM

Hi. Newbie here. And so, my list:

1)Feds. I think it's the way he moves. So languid.

Posted by susi 07/26/2007 at 09:11 PM

This is much too difficult, but here goes.

5. Roger Federer -- he's my favorite player by far, but he can't be #1 on my list on looks alone. Love the broad shoulders and the cute curls, though.
4. Rafael Nadal -- just for the body and the boyish smile.
3. Tipsarevic (he's cute and interesting, too).
2. tie: the Fernandos (Gonzalez, Verdasco). Love the Spanish guys. Que guapo.
1. Thomas Blake (James has a beautiful face, but Thomas has the hair, unbelievable eyes, and he's taller. Plus he's a Harvard boy, so he's got the brains.)

And a couple of classics: John Newcombe, Arthur Ashe, Borg, and Rafter.

By the way, this post and all the responses have supplied some much needed LOL moments.

Posted by Celia 07/26/2007 at 09:12 PM

Okay, I know how to cut it and paste it, but how do I make it blue, so when you click on it, it takes you to the site?
P.S. sorry for all of this but I want to know so I can post links.

Posted by AmyLu 07/26/2007 at 09:12 PM

Hi Teemuh! Welcome!

Posted by DMS 07/26/2007 at 09:13 PM

Oh, that jj...yeah it is extremely tough since i follow them less so and many are so young...feel like an arse if you made that mistake sherlock spoke of. I don't know we may be in the minority.

Posted by DMS 07/26/2007 at 09:13 PM

Celia, just paste it in there, will take care of itself.

Posted by Tim 07/26/2007 at 09:14 PM

i hate to break up this hormonal extravanganza, but is Indy on tellie tonight anywhere?

Celia, dont beat me, is it my fault Rafa has no pecs??

*evil grin*

Posted by Sherlock 07/26/2007 at 09:15 PM

LOL! I saw that today, DMS. Brilliant as usual. :) I need to watch that again this weekend. It's been too long, and now that we're heading into the dog days of the season, it's perfect timing.

AmyLu, I don't know. Lots of pretty young ladies, sure. Off the top of my head, I love Alicia, of course. I think Kuzzie's cute, Sam's Ivanovic, yes, Kirilenko, Dulko....

All pretty, yes. But if I didn't know them, and I see them in a restaurant, they're just mixing in with the crowd.

And don't even get me started on Sharapova. :)

Posted by Andrea 07/26/2007 at 09:16 PM

My Hot 5:

1) That guy who keeps winning the French Open (because of his tennis of course...nothing else. lol)
2) Bjorn (still hot at 50!)
3) Marat (he's just soo deliciously bad!)
4) Andre!!!!!!
5) Murphy Jensen (come've seen him on the tennis channel, he's pretty cute!)

Posted by Celia 07/26/2007 at 09:16 PM
Thanks DMS!
*hits Tim with not only one, but TWO Head over-size rackets*

Posted by Celia 07/26/2007 at 09:19 PM

YYYAAAAYYYY!!! It worked!!!
P.S. the reason I posted that video is because when I saw it, it made me fall in love with him all over again.

Posted by Sherlock 07/26/2007 at 09:19 PM

Hey, Tim. We didn't argue today. Cause for celebration, no? :)

Is Rafa really lacking in the pecs department? Haven't noticed.

Posted by Celia 07/26/2007 at 09:19 PM

Posted by DMS 07/26/2007 at 09:20 PM

Look who showed up...hello Andrea.

good job celia, congrats on winning the book btw.

Sherlock: worst movies with sports titles...wimbledon and bend it like movies with sports theme, bull durham, slap shot, caddyshack!

Posted by ptenisnet 07/26/2007 at 09:21 PM

I was wondering what all that non stop chatter from the back was.

Posted by mmmm8 07/26/2007 at 09:21 PM

Thanks for the Waske appreciation,, I mean Sherlock ;) I appreciate the former investment banker angle of him as well.

Unhealthy obsession you have with Enqvist of all people.

And reading through this - the "would you still swoon if they weren't tennis players" question - absolutely. To me, there are some players who are very sexy to watch but totally fade when off-court (ex. Gasquet when he is on), but I definitely pick mine on personalities not just game.

Posted by Sherlock 07/26/2007 at 09:25 PM

Andrea, welcome back. :)

DMS, you didn't like "Bend it Like Beckham"? Haven't seen it, but heard it was decent. Durham is just the best ever. So realistic to many truisms about baseball. Love that Costner had a legitimate, sweet swing. "25 more texas leaguers a year, and you're in Yankee Stadium." Or something like that. Stirs the soul.

Posted by Tim 07/26/2007 at 09:26 PM

Rafa's pecs are nonexistent, if not concave in does the boy have biceps like that and no pecs?

forget the biceps curls its time for some bench press Jetboy!!

well Sherlock Im giving you a break becuase you finally relented in your silly arguments about streaks being insignificant :)

I think this thread is a hoot and a holler

by the way, Safin has no pecs, either, his one big flaw... Jan Michael Gambill wins the pecs aware for mens tennis as I recall..

Posted by Andrea 07/26/2007 at 09:26 PM

Hi DMS! I swore I wouldn't comment (because then I can't get away from the computer) but how could I resist this topic? lol.

Congrats on your first link-posting! Looking forward to a lot of Rafa videos ok?

Posted by Andrea 07/26/2007 at 09:27 PM

Hi Sherlock! It's nice to be back. Me likey this topic!

Posted by Celia 07/26/2007 at 09:27 PM

Thanks DMS!
*waves to Andrea* How are you? Did you see the youtube video I posted? It's the first time I ever posted a link!

Posted by DMS 07/26/2007 at 09:29 PM

Lets just say a ladyfriend of mine rented it for us, she knows i am a big soccer fan so she thinks how great this will was a girly movie/chick flick, no soccer at all in it, not funny, not interesting, it is about a girl who has beckham wallbangers in her room and all her teen angst!

Bull durham is just classic...although I think it is more a guy thing.

Posted by CL 07/26/2007 at 09:29 PM

GuGA!!! YES! How could I have forgotten him. That picture someone posted makes him look like a Botticelli angel. Alas, I have a feeling Guga's tennis career is done, which is a real shame. I hope that his hips are okay enough for him to still enjoy surfing.

Oh and someone WAY up thread mentioned Bracciali (sp?). Also a big thumbs up... too handsome for a Fellini movie.... but a delightfully raffish, yet world weary European look.

Don't we need to build a SUPERHOTTENNISPLAYER (male division - WTA for another thread.) Like:

TMF's hair, Rafa's guns, Keifer's legs, Safin's eyes. etc. Perhaps some computer whiz could work up a composite. Tansformers look OUT.

Posted by Celia 07/26/2007 at 09:30 PM

TTTIIIMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!! Do you want to make me mad? Do you want your body covered in bruises? But you want to know what? I'm just going to ignore you, because we're not supposed to feed the trolls.

Posted by Celia 07/26/2007 at 09:32 PM

Thanks Andrea!

Posted by AmyLu 07/26/2007 at 09:32 PM

Sherlock and DMS, I understand with regard to the age-thing.

Tim, I agree on the pecs issue with regard to Rafa - he hates lifting weights and it's evident how rarely he does it.

Congratulations on posting a link Celia!

DMS, I liked Bend it Like Beckham - but my favorite sports movie is probably The Natural. Bull Durham and Caddy Shack would both be very high on my list though.

Posted by DMS 07/26/2007 at 09:32 PM

Andrea...pete knew this post was a magnet for comments...i am seeing de-lurking, new people, multiple posting, changing of the minds...actually, i lurked most of day laughing at how into it you all were. This place should be enjoyable for you.

Posted by Andrea 07/26/2007 at 09:32 PM

*waves to Celia*
**picks herself after fainting**
I flove the video! That guy is the most wonderful specimen of a man!

Posted by Celia 07/26/2007 at 09:35 PM

I know Andrea! Like I said ealier, it made me fall in love with him all over again!
P.S. Hope you are feeling better now!
Thanks AmyLu!
I have another question. Can you cut/paste a link in an e-mail?

Posted by Andrea 07/26/2007 at 09:36 PM

I enjoyed Bend It. Nice movie, but the best sports movie for me was Happy Gilmore! Wimbledon was pretty good as well.

Have you seen 'Goal'?

Posted by Sherlock 07/26/2007 at 09:38 PM

"well Sherlock Im giving you a break becuase you finally relented in your silly arguments about streaks being insignificant :)"

LOL. You're too good, Tim. But somehow, I see us revisiting this in the future. :)

Interesting about Beckham, DMS. Crossing that off the "to see" list now. :)

Enqvist? Unhealthy? How you talk, mmmm8. :)

This just in....Michael Vick is in DEEP doo doo.

Posted by Ren 07/26/2007 at 09:38 PM

Nice description fastbowler. Don't you like Guga? Just asking.

Posted by DMS 07/26/2007 at 09:38 PM

Happy gilmore...yes, forgot, that is pretty good. Goal, hmmm, nope.

The Natural is good, yes, agree...the one with Costner when he is pitching for the tigers a no-hitter, forget the name, good as well.

Posted by AmyLu 07/26/2007 at 09:39 PM

Celia, yes, you can cut and paste a link in an e-mail, and it will work in the same manner.

Posted by Tim 07/26/2007 at 09:39 PM

lol celia,

sorry but truth must prevail here re Rafa's missing pecs :) 100 push ups a day would do the trick actually, might tell Federbear to email Uncle Toni, actually...

Posted by Celia 07/26/2007 at 09:40 PM

Thanks AmyLu! I want to send that video to my aunt so she can see why my mom and I love him so much!

Posted by AmyLu 07/26/2007 at 09:41 PM

DMS, For the Love of the Game? On the Costner note, I also liked Tin Cup.

Posted by Celia 07/26/2007 at 09:42 PM

Okay Tim. His pecs could be bigger, I'll admit. But I'd rather have no pecs than (this may sound crude, but oh well) man boobs.

Posted by Sherlock 07/26/2007 at 09:42 PM

Good call, DMS. That Costner flick was good. Love of the Game, or something like that.

Posted by DMS 07/26/2007 at 09:43 PM

Tin cup...yes, rene russo, me like... and it was pretty funny, cheech martin especially. For love of the Game, yes that is the name thank you.

Posted by L. Rubin 07/26/2007 at 09:44 PM

Is it true? Fed's not on your hot-hot list? I may have to change my opinion about you, Tim. For a while, I thought you were an unmitigated KAD.

Don't f&^% with Tim! He remembers everything . . .

Oh, this thread is a riot. I've only been able to post intermittently, but you folks have given me a belly laugh

Posted by Tim 07/26/2007 at 09:45 PM

Sherlock it takes a big man to admit when he's totally wrong and off base lol

m silently amused at how much the straight guys must be wiggin about this topic right now... to balance things a tad let me do another list! diggin into history a bit, the current crop of women dont cut it IMO..

Evonne Goolagong (totally gorgeous, curly locks, great legs, smile)
Chris Evert (wholesome blond pretty and feminine)
Bettina Bunge (gorgeous!)
Serena (pretty face and sexy back baby- from head to toe)
Anna K (a few years back, now she's too skinnny - If I had to asnwer the desert island question, id pick her)

any questions? :)

Posted by DMS 07/26/2007 at 09:45 PM mean man boobs ala mardy fish? LOL. the whole no pecs thing really gets you...on that note, if you look at TMF's left arm vs. his right arm, you can see a huge muscular difference. Carillo pointed that out a few years ago on tv.

Posted by Tim 07/26/2007 at 09:48 PM

Ms Rubin, glad u noticed! Roger is way too skinny, and has kinda funny elbows, but i DO like his face and hair, he looks darn handsome in Mens Vogue, but physically thats about it ...

its all about Fed with a racuqet in his hand, fully clothed, for me ... Id like Fed to come to my house and mix GEs and chit chat, of course, that would be cool :)

Posted by Sherlock 07/26/2007 at 09:49 PM

Cheech made that movie. Rene was luscious, though already heading down the too skinny path at that point. She needs a few twinkies.

Posted by Andrea 07/26/2007 at 09:50 PM

Thanks. I'm feeling better. It's just something to do with this dumb guy from school (he's also my next door neighbor so I can't avoid him during the summer either). surprise surprise! Anyway, this one's for you:
I should warn you, you might get a melting sensation while watching. (ok, that sounds pretty cheesy but whatever). The music's bad though.

You will like Goal. It's a soccer movie (you probably knew that) about a simple LA kid who is spotted by a EPL scout and is given the chance of a lifetime to play for Newcastle United. So he goes there, and there's a lot of drama, a little romance, oh yeah some soccer as well, and...a scene with becks. lol. You should watch it.

Posted by Tari 07/26/2007 at 09:51 PM

Sports movies...I liked "Rudy" and "Miracle". And I loved all the baseball movies, of course. Tin Cup was great, and Randy Quaid did a movie about a pro golfer that was very good.

Posted by mmmm8 07/26/2007 at 09:52 PM

Don't listen to them, Sherlock. "Bend it Like Beckham" was not at all about soccer, and maybe a tiny bit of a chick flick, but it WAS funny. In a British way.

I guess my opinion doesn't matter since I put Tomas' cherished name and "unhealthy" in the same sentence. Enqvist just doesn't seem like a "man crush" kinda guy (what do I know. I'm a girl and I have a man crush on Yuri Sharapov)

Posted by DMS 07/26/2007 at 09:53 PM

"she needs a few twinkies" Yeah, i noticed in her latest, the betting movie with Pacino she was slimmer than usual.

Andrea: I will that sounds at least like it has a plot. I will say, the indian girl in the bend it movie, she is now on ER series, has a great accent.

Posted by Andrea 07/26/2007 at 09:54 PM

Yup, Michael Vick is screwed. Heard he pleaded not guilty. Do you believe him?

Posted by Celia 07/26/2007 at 09:54 PM

DMS-Probably the only reason I don't like to watch Roger is because of the right arm being bigger than the left. It just freaks me out. Even though my lower right arm is a little bit bigger than my left. But in my case you could only tell if I put my arms straight out in front of me and flexed my lower arm muscles. Now I am a Rafa fan but I also like Fed's game because it's more to how I play.

Posted by DMS 07/26/2007 at 09:55 PM

Tari: Rudy, unfreakingbelievable that I forgot about that one! That one is for the ages, will bring a tear to a boy's eye when he sees Ruddiger run on that field for the last play.

We thought maybe you did take us up on those GEs btw..LOL.

Posted by Andrea 07/26/2007 at 09:55 PM

Anyone like Talledega Nights?

Posted by Sam 07/26/2007 at 09:55 PM

Liron: Is "interesting look" like when someone sets you up on a blind date and describes the person as "nice"? :-)

Posted by CL 07/26/2007 at 09:56 PM

TMF's left elbow when he serves. No kidding.... the prefect vulnerable link in all that smooth flowing invulnerability.

But of course nothing...and we have sort of left the realm of hottness here.... compares with the 'muscular difference' between Laver's left and right arms, or for that matter, the Popeye like disparity between his left upper arm and left lower arm.

What realm ARE we in again???

Posted by Sherlock 07/26/2007 at 09:56 PM

"Sherlock it takes a big man to admit when he's totally wrong and off base"

***hole. LOL. :)

Good call, Tari. I thought Miracle was so well done. Some legit hockey action. And the football in the snow scene with Carter's speech in the background. Terrific. And the underdog won!!!!

Posted by DMS 07/26/2007 at 09:57 PM

Celia: there are 11 grand slam titles in that right arm...which is why it is so freakishly big!!

Posted by Teemuh 07/26/2007 at 09:58 PM

Thanks, Amylu:) Best sports movie? Chariots of Fire of course.

Posted by Sherlock 07/26/2007 at 10:00 PM

Andrea, I think that was just what he had to do, to buy time, maybe work on a plea, etc. From all I hear, he's dead meat. The prosecutors today even talked about adding to the indictment later. Oh, my. I wonder if it'll even go to court though. If convicted of all that, he's in jail for a while.

I'd like to hear Dunlop's or Bob's opinion on this, as I really know nothing of what I'm talking about from the legal side of things.

Posted by Andrea 07/26/2007 at 10:00 PM

No offense...but Fed's left arm is sickly looking. Too much of a difference from the right arm and it just hangs there. Oh well, it's only use is to tuck those lovely locks into the headband.

Posted by L. Rubin 07/26/2007 at 10:00 PM

No! Interesting as in unconventional.

Posted by D-Wiz 07/26/2007 at 10:02 PM

Sherlock: Y'know, my 2 lists were made with tennis/celebrity being thrown out of the equation entirely. (maybe that's why neither Roger or Rafa would make my Hott Top 20)

Hartfield, Blake, Robredo, Haas, Lopez are all guys who'd make me smart/gulp/need to catch my breath over their looks if I passed 'em on the street. (it actually HAPPENED with Robredo at IW...ask AmyLu or Dunlop) They're all, like, works of art, IMO -- famous or not, pro athletes or not.

My other list: Blake, Verdasco, Tursunov, Moya, Safin. All of those fellas have a little somethin' somethin' going on, tennis/celebrity aside, that I can't really explain -- actually, I COULD explain, but it would take awhile ;) -- but that, well, just moves my insides around a little. That's what HOTT really is to me. No doubt, it could just be some misguided & inaccurate perception of them that moves my insides around a little b/c I don't actually know any of them, but it's not about their tennis or celebrity (or even their looks) At All.

PS For the record, count me among those who find Ivanisevic hott. Oh, yes! Very much so.

Posted by Sherlock 07/26/2007 at 10:03 PM

"Enqvist just doesn't seem like a "man crush" kinda guy"

mmmm8, just curious, why do you say that? Do you know something I don't? :)

Posted by Celia 07/26/2007 at 10:05 PM

DMS-yeah. Whatever.
Andrea-thanks for that video! You're in saying the music is cheesy though. I have to say I like it when Rafa has one of his little, subtle smiles compared to his big ones where you see most of his teeth. Oh, and sorry about that guy. Sometimes I'm glad guys don't pay attention to me.

Posted by DMS 07/26/2007 at 10:06 PM

CL: ot realm, we waited till it looked like a lot of the hot list calmed down before we arrived to where we are now.LOL.

Posted by DMS 07/26/2007 at 10:08 PM

Remember, the left arm is not needed to pick his crack, so it gets much less use than someone who shall remain nameless, with the muscular arms.LOL

Posted by Andrea 07/26/2007 at 10:08 PM

It would only be fair if we let the guys do their version of the hottest WTA players wouldn't it? Maybe sometime soon.

TW males-
Would Shrieky be the winner? Just curious...

Posted by Tari 07/26/2007 at 10:09 PM

Definitely had to pour a GE, DMS. :)

And Andrea, I liked Talladega Nights, it was so strange though. I didn't want to like it, either. Wouldn't really classify that as a sports movie.

I think MrsS floved it, too. A few here did, anyway.

Posted by sue 07/26/2007 at 10:12 PM

Grandpa Nadal is pretty HOTTTT!! LOL

Posted by RedClaw 07/26/2007 at 10:12 PM

You know, just to weigh in here...
I'm not sure who I'd like to look like personally, but as far as hot goes:

2. Roger today.
1. Roger, back with his ponytail. If I were gay (Or maybe even as I am!), mm.. (Now that's embarrassing.)

As someone said, there's something about the way Roger moves - And carries himself. That confidence...
It's too hard to list beyond that.

... I'm straight. Mostly... I swear. ;) (Not, of course, that it really matters. :p)

Posted by Andrea 07/26/2007 at 10:14 PM

Remember the Titans is a pretty good one (though I'v seen it one too many times).

Posted by CL 07/26/2007 at 10:15 PM

DMS - thank you.... next time I'm bringing a map...maybe even a GPS to go with the GEs.

Posted by Andrea 07/26/2007 at 10:16 PM

"Remember, the left arm is not needed to pick his crack, so it gets much less use than someone who shall remain nameless, with the muscular arms."

I'm not laughing out loud. Hmmpf!

Posted by ptenisnet 07/26/2007 at 10:17 PM

What the heck. I am going to base my list on the hottness of the SOs of players on the tour. Let's call it associative property of hottness (4th law of thermodynamics).

1) Kolya
2) Ljuby
3) Safin 1
4) Safin 2
5) Enrique Iglesias
