Indy Crisis Center, 7.26 07/26/2007 - 11:00 AM

Some of you may have noticed, perusing this website, that it is frequented by quite a large contingent of sexist, shallow, cliquish, hormonally-driven and lustful tennis freaks to whom, it often seems, Hottness is all. And the men who read this blog aren' always all that high-minded, either. . . But let's leave them out of it for now.Frankie

Ladies, here's your chance to lay all your cards on the table. I am asking each of you to step up and submit your Hott 5, in order of Hottness (hottest guy at No. 1). Feel free to add a comment to each of your choices, but keep it brief. Oh, and you men, you can talk Federer's slice backhand or something. . .

We'll do this in honor of Frankie, aka Tire Boy, who took out Juan Del Potro yesterday in Indianapolis.  I am due back from Newfoundland Sunday night, so have a great weekend.

Well Celia does swing that head model at quite a few...she comes off as something I cannot say here, but yes.

RE: Pornikova and Enrique...he could do worse I guess, but my thought was he could do a whole lot better too. I mean, she used to have it for Sergei Federov of all people!

Posted by DMS 07/26/2007 at 10:29 PM

Shrieky comes off as something I cannot say, not celia, sorry C.

Posted by Andrea 07/26/2007 at 10:30 PM

Don't know why I said Dimelo. Just had the song stuck in my head.
I meant:

porque Enrique? Porque?

Posted by Sam 07/26/2007 at 10:30 PM

Anna K is attractive, but I always thought she was highly overrated.

Posted by Andrea 07/26/2007 at 10:32 PM

Pornikova! Suits her right!
Now I'm mad. Aaarg!

Posted by DMS 07/26/2007 at 10:32 PM

CL: lol, yes, that would help...I guess it is like stumbling into a frat party here some nights.

Posted by mmmm8 07/26/2007 at 10:33 PM

That Enrique/Anna article is from 2004. I think they said that was a rumor, bur who knows

Posted by Celia 07/26/2007 at 10:34 PM

DMS- Are you sure you meant Shrieky?
*holds Head over-size racket*

Posted by 07/26/2007 at 10:36 PM

On a related note, look who broke up:
http://usmagazine.com/jessica_alba_breakup

Whoppee!

Posted by DMS 07/26/2007 at 10:37 PM

Yes, I meant shrieky...*runs*

Good news indeed...Sam if you are there still, click that link, and about a year ago she was on the cover of a mag...worst false advertising I have ever witnessed...LOL.

Posted by Andrea 07/26/2007 at 10:37 PM

So...is this crisis center thread now officially OT?

Posted by Celia 07/26/2007 at 10:39 PM

You can run but you can't hide DMS!

Posted by DMS 07/26/2007 at 10:40 PM

Andrea: Pete did say at the top we guys could talk Federer's sliced backhand or something...

Posted by Lucy 07/26/2007 at 10:42 PM

Citing the 4th law of thermodynamics is pretty hott if you ask me.

Posted by jhurwi 07/26/2007 at 10:42 PM

RE movies: I'm a fan of Bend It Like Beckham, but obviously you would be disappointed if you watched it expecting a movie about professional soccer.
It's not a movie about sports per se; soccer serves as a symbol of the cultural differences between the heroine's Sikh family and the surrounding British society. The movie is about immigrants adjusting to a different culture, and about changing definitions of gender roles. I wouldn't call it a "chick flick," but I can see why it may appeal more to a female than to a male audience.

Posted by Sam 07/26/2007 at 10:43 PM

Jessica Alba, ahh ...

I'm also a huge fan of Vanessa Marcil (she's on the show "Las Vegas")

Posted by Andrea 07/26/2007 at 10:45 PM

"Some of you may have noticed, perusing this website, that it is frequented by quite a large contingent of sexist, shallow, cliquish, hormonally-driven and lustful tennis freaks to whom, it often seems, Hottness is all."

OMG! I didn't pay attention to that line. That was the first line in the blog, but I was looking at the picture. Pete sounds kinda serious...

so...yeah, that Fed, he has one heck of a slice backhand doesn't he?

Posted by Celia 07/26/2007 at 10:46 PM

Uh, yeah Andrea, he does doesn't he?

Posted by Celia 07/26/2007 at 10:47 PM

*giggles*

Posted by Andrea 07/26/2007 at 10:51 PM

Celia-
I think Pete was directly referring to that video of Rafa's rear admirables I posted. What do ya know? So now I am a "sexist, shallow, cliquish, hormonally-driven and lustful tennis freak". Just great.

Posted by DMS 07/26/2007 at 10:51 PM

Andrea: simply count the number of posts dealing with hotness, and you will see that pete knows his tribe too well...was a tongue in cheeky thing comment.

Posted by MrsSanta 07/26/2007 at 10:53 PM

The repeated mentions of Verdasco and Seagal are hurting my soul.

My mind is blown that Tim finds Serena hot.

Posted by Andrea 07/26/2007 at 10:56 PM

DMS-
Yes, and I am definitely guilty of doing most of what Pete said, but to my defense, I only talked about 'hotness' in the OT threads. So there!

Posted by Tim 07/26/2007 at 11:05 PM

MrsSanta its clear that some TWers have pigeonholed me from the start ... Im quite well rounded when Sherlock isnt giving TMF a bad time and gets me breathing fire :)

surely u have some snark for my shameful admission about Keifer...sure he's a demented, twisted game player who otfte lacks in sportmanship, but he's got bad boy Colin Farrell written all over him

*me bad*

Posted by Celia 07/26/2007 at 11:10 PM

Andrea- I think I'm one too. But, trust me, I've been called worse things.

Posted by susi 07/26/2007 at 11:13 PM

Add Hoosiers to the list of great sports movies, and Brian's Song (an oldie, made for TV, I think, about Chicago Bears players Brian Piccolo and Gale Sayers)

Posted by Tim 07/26/2007 at 11:14 PM

Andrea, celia, etc., .. awww no worries we all love the Rafa lust around here, its constantly entertaining, Pete was just putting it on the table for dicsussion thats all ... whats wrong with being lusty? If Rafa hit the pec deck once in a while Id even give him another look :)

Posted by MrsSanta 07/26/2007 at 11:14 PM

Tim you've complimented Serena so you could stab Sherlock and I would let it slide. Besides sociopathic tendencies aside Kiefer isn't so bad. Verdasco or Goran are far more abominable.

Posted by Celia 07/26/2007 at 11:18 PM

Tim-*restrains herself from hitting Tim in the head with her Head over-size racket, counts to ten*

Posted by Andrea 07/26/2007 at 11:22 PM

Thanks Tim. Like you said, nothing wrong in being lusty :)

Posted by ptenisnet 07/26/2007 at 11:25 PM

Why is Celia hitting people over the head with a racquet?

*wishing i'd paid better attention in highschool physics*

Posted by Andrea 07/26/2007 at 11:29 PM

ptenis-
because people are saying less than nice things about the most flawless guy in the world. lol.

Posted by Andrea 07/26/2007 at 11:31 PM

Either way, I'd wear a helmet while talking to Celia.
Just kidding C!

Posted by kiwibee 07/26/2007 at 11:34 PM

Is it too late to add my list of cute players?lol

My choice will be:
1)Marat Safin
2)Tommy Haas
3)F.Lopez
4)Tommy Robredo
5)Rafa
6)Tursonov

i would love to have 10 most beautiful ATP players, but so far can only think of 6...lol

Posted by ptenisnet 07/26/2007 at 11:35 PM

Who is the other most flawless guy in the world?
Lemme see.
Federer: Big nose. And he wears his pants backwards.
Kolya: receding hairline
Roddick:volleying skills
Gonzo: head case.
kiefer: extreme head case.
Marat: the captain.
Nadal: Naaaaaaah!

So who is it?

Posted by Celia 07/26/2007 at 11:36 PM

Thank you for explaining that to ptenis Andrea.:-) FYI I use a Head over-size racket because a) that's my weapon of choice(on and off the courts :-)) and b) I don't own a pay of high heels (I'm a tomboy. I'd pick a pair of sweatpants, a baggy shirt, and a pair of tennis shoes over a designer dress and heels anyday).
And I would stop hitting people if they would stop saying bad things about Rafa. I don't say that many bad things about Roger you know.

Posted by MrsSanta 07/26/2007 at 11:37 PM

Radek Stephanek. Not a headcase, great volleyer, has a small nose and retains most of his hair.

Posted by Celia 07/26/2007 at 11:38 PM

Andrea-you don't have to wear a helmet around me.
Where's Bismarck? For all of the people I hit, maybe he could lend you his helmet.:-)

Posted by Tim 07/26/2007 at 11:45 PM

ugh my head hurts

:)

Posted by ptenisnet 07/26/2007 at 11:46 PM

Have you seen his shirts santa?

Posted by tennis lover 07/26/2007 at 11:48 PM

Wow! What a fun thread. Nice to see you guys all having a blast with the topic, and so many Rafa fans here too. Looks like I'm a catching the tail end of the party but can't miss tossing in my list as well.

1. Rafa

2. Nadal

3. Lleyton Hewitt

4. Ferrero

5. Djokovic

More hotties who must not be forgotten:

Feliciano Lopez
Haas
Robredo
David Ferrer
Safin
Malisse
Gasquet
Nalbandian
Gaston Gaudio
Jurgen Melzer

Hey, doesn't it seem like tennis has the best looking guys of any sport??!!!

Posted by Lucy 07/26/2007 at 11:49 PM

Why won't the straight men around here ever put up their hottest ATP lists? C'mon guys. Feel secure! Embrace the hottness!

T-Rob's pretty flawless in a patrician kind of way.

Posted by Andrea 07/26/2007 at 11:49 PM

Celia-
"Where's Bismarck? For all of the people I hit, maybe he could lend you his helmet."
LOL!! His helmet's supposedly got a spike in it so it would snap a couple of your strings.

Posted by Lucy 07/26/2007 at 11:50 PM

LLEYTON HEWITT?

Posted by PSparkle 07/26/2007 at 11:54 PM

After looking at more Roger Federer pics, he reminds me of a very cute white Pekingese dog (especially when he smiles). Not sure thats a insult since I flove my cousins white Pekingese.

I think I win "weirdest" comment award.

Posted by MrsSanta 07/26/2007 at 11:55 PM

Lucy you might have missed it but it's National Stereotype Week. In addition to not dancing, manly men don't make lists of hot dudes.

Radek's shirts denote huge Wilanders .

Posted by Celia 07/26/2007 at 11:56 PM

Andrea-on second thought, maybe Bismarck shouldn't give away his helmet.
Mental note: do not hit Bismarck no matter what he says.

Posted by Lucy 07/26/2007 at 11:58 PM

OH RIGHT.

My mistake. I'm a girl! Excuse me while I giggle my way out of trouble and fail to signal correctly at the intersection.

Posted by Celia 07/27/2007 at 12:06 AM

LOL Lucy!

Posted by Tim 07/27/2007 at 12:12 AM

I love it! there sure are some smart and evolved chicks on this board :)

can I say that without being branded a gay sexist?

Posted by L. Rubin 07/27/2007 at 12:17 AM

Tim,

You're just a regular Don Imus! LOL!

Good god, people: Are you guys still at it? Bodo, bless his heart, surely didn't predict this insanity. Speaking of insanity, did someone include Lleyton Effing Hewitt in a Hot list. Hewitt? Um, ok.

--Liron

Posted by Andrea 07/27/2007 at 12:18 AM

Nice one Lucy!

Posted by tennis lover 07/27/2007 at 12:18 AM

LLEYTON HEWITT?

Mmmm...absolutely! : ) He is hot and he and Bec make a great couple.

Someone else had Lleyton on their list too, Lucy. You must have missed that. So, does tennis have the cutest guys, or what?
Not as many really gorgeous people on the women's tour, imho. Which I find a little strange.

Posted by Tim 07/27/2007 at 12:22 AM

Bodo knew exactly what he was doing, darn him! I feel a poetry thread coming on next time he takes off for a few days for the wilds and woods ... lol

Posted by L. Rubin 07/27/2007 at 12:27 AM

tennis lover,

Yes, those two definitely make a charming couple, although I seriously doubt that their combined IQs would break into double figures. Hewitt, for all his ferocious spirit, is downright vulgar. After he won the 2001 US Open, a journalist (I believe he was writing for the NY Times) wrote that Hewitt reminds him of "a dorm rat from Clemson." Hee hee.

Of course, it is silly to argue about taste. But Hewitt?

--Liron

Posted by Snoo Foo 07/27/2007 at 12:29 AM

1. Muttiah Muralitharan
2. Kevin Pieterson
3. Andrew Symonds
4. Lasith... whoops

Posted by Celia 07/27/2007 at 12:30 AM

Hewitt looks like my Uncle Mark only ten-twenty years younger with a backwards hat on.

Posted by Jenn 07/27/2007 at 12:34 AM

Lucy - you may be questioning Hewitt, but this thread has seen a lot weirder contributions today!

Tari says "Sports movies...I liked "Rudy"
*Gives Tari the "no you didn't" look on behalf of Beth and other fellow Trojan fans*

Does Field of Dreams count as a sports movie? that's the only movie that ever makes my husband cry every time he watches it. That's my vote if it counts.

Celia/Andrea - I watched your Rafa video links. In some of those shots Rafa looks so young that I feel like we should be congratulating him for matriculating to 9th grade rather than putting him on our hottie hott lists!!

Posted by ptenisnet 07/27/2007 at 12:36 AM

One of my room mates cried while watching Best of the Best.

Posted by Snoo Foo 07/27/2007 at 12:38 AM

After the reception my proclamation of Lllodra Lllove received, I figured I'd sit this one out for fear that Mrs. S and Beth would do an intervention on me if they saw my top 5, but Ms. L. Rubin has inspired me, so guided by her pioneering spirit...

5. pretty much the entire ATP, plus Pironkova and Daniilidou
4. Mariano Zabaleta. nipples. dirt. 'nuff said.
3. Michael Llodra
2. the Karen Carpenter cheekbones and choppers, the methyltestosterone, the tender moments with Zabaleta, the nostalgic resemblance to a recurring character from a late '70s era high school spanish textbook, the man who gives a whole new meaning to the word "rawboned"... Juan Ignacio Chela.

Posted by Fruedian Slip 07/27/2007 at 12:39 AM

Ola everybody,

An entire thread on objectifying men. I'm happy to oblige.

5. Gonzo
4. Borg
3. Hmmmmmm
2. Edberg

1. FEDERER by a mile. Fed = VIRTUOSITY (def: the state of being a virtuoso nonpareil) in action.

Now, I'm going off to drool. Gahhhhh, I've regressed into pimply adolescence.

Posted by tennis lover 07/27/2007 at 12:43 AM

Liron, on the contrary, Lleyton seems very intelligent in his interviews. And I don't know who started the rumor but I've never seen any indication that Bec is dumb and I wouldn't presume to make that judgment about someone about whom I know very little. I know she took a lot of hits on this board for her poetry writing but I think she seems very sweet and charming and there's no denying how much love she has for Lleyton - which is precious.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to what a NY times journalist says. They are the worst. And the most biased. Half of them seem like they're always on some vendetta. Besides, much of the press has had it in for Hewitt for ages so I wouldn't expect any of them to speak honestly about him. Vulgar? No way. Spirited. Passionate. Yes. He's a real down to earth, friendly guy. On the tennis channel features he's not at all the way the press represents him. Anyway, I'm not surprised by your views because the media and Patrick McEnroe have spent years on a mission of character assassination.

Posted by tennis lover 07/27/2007 at 12:45 AM

Oh, besides which, as you noted, this is about tastes and I do think he's really cute. He and Rafa get along famously too, and practice together!

Posted by JC 07/27/2007 at 12:45 AM

Hey,

Someone should calculate all these up and find the average top 5 list.

Posted by Jenn 07/27/2007 at 12:45 AM

In a late entry, our second Chela mention of the day . . . Liron, you have competition!

Pete is probably cracking up right now knowing even without looking that we would still be going strong at this hour. This thread has produced some seriously classic comments. I nominate the whole thread for Hall of Fame status.

Posted by tennis lover 07/27/2007 at 12:47 AM

Hewitt looks like my Uncle Mark only ten-twenty years younger with a backwards hat on.

Well, Celia, your Uncle Mark must be a hot one too.:)

Posted by Celia 07/27/2007 at 12:48 AM

I second that Jenn!

Posted by Celia 07/27/2007 at 12:49 AM

tennis lover-eww. I don't think of my Uncle like that. Besides, I don't like blondes.:-)

Posted by Snoo Foo 07/27/2007 at 12:57 AM

Yeah is Andrew gonna do some kind of like, you know, regression analysis or whatever the hail it is, to find out the True #1, by assigning some kind of like, points thingy and all that kind of stuff with alphas and deltas or however it works, asymptotically approaching hott?

and, oh yeah, duh, by a landslide, caps lock, ctrl+b, ctrl+u, ctrl+i, special effects, blinking and neon and junk...

1. The legs. The bellybutton. The teeth. Ice. Cold. Willy. CaƱas.

DQs: El Capitan and El Gato, cuz disappointing me and making me cry is not hott, or at least that's what I've been trying to teach myself since about 10th grade; The Nanner, ever since a couple "friends" pointed out he kinda looks like my little brother. Thanks a lot!

Posted by L. Rubin 07/27/2007 at 12:58 AM

"I watched your Rafa video links. In some of those shots Rafa looks so young that I feel like we should be congratulating him for matriculating to 9th grade rather than putting him on our hottie hott lists!!"

LOL, Jen!

Tennis lover,

The NY Times is engaged in a vendetta against Hewitt? If that's the case, I'm going to buy a subscription! Really, though: I only quoted that line because I thought it was funny. Also, I give not two sh&^S about P Mac's opinions. That man irritates me to no end, and I simply can't stand to listen to his tedious commentary. That said, go Lleyton!

--Liron

Posted by Jenn 07/27/2007 at 01:01 AM

Snoo, you are a true original! I love your list. I won't fight you for ice cold Willy, but I love it!

Posted by Celia 07/27/2007 at 01:04 AM

http://images.sportsline.com/images/spin/spun/spun-612.jpg
I just found this picture! It's hilarious! It may be a little inappropriate, but it's late isn't it?

Posted by L. Rubin 07/27/2007 at 01:08 AM

Jenn,

An ice-cold Willy sounds kinda nice, as it will very likely get you high.

Posted by temes 07/27/2007 at 01:13 AM

Can I post my list for the ladies?

1. Serena Williams
2. Anna Kournikova
3. Venus Williams
4. Svetlana Kuznetsova
5. Elena Dementieva

I think Marat is by far the hottest male on tour. Rafa has nice arms but he's more funny looking than dashing. Which is good also.

Posted by Celia 07/27/2007 at 01:15 AM

You know temes, I would hit you with my racket for saying Rafa is funny loking, but I'm too tired.

Posted by Ray Stonada 07/27/2007 at 01:17 AM

My list:

1. Temes
2. Sherlock
3. Tim
4. Todd and In Charge
5. Pete

Posted by Ray Stonada 07/27/2007 at 01:24 AM

Also, Tommy Robredo is quite a specimen.

Posted by D-Wiz 07/27/2007 at 01:25 AM

STONADA Time!

Seriously, Robredo IS a specimen. I'm tellin' you people, you'd freak if you saw up close & personal!

Posted by D-Wiz 07/27/2007 at 01:26 AM

....if you saw ROBREDO up close & personal!

Posted by Snoo Foo 07/27/2007 at 01:28 AM

Oy Ray you rafa kad, you put sherlock over tim? I guess I can have ptenisnet all to myself then, except he prolly doesn't want to be included on Team Dopers-of-Irregular-Dentition.

temes, it embiggens my heart to see some kuzzie flove.

Posted by Lucy 07/27/2007 at 01:29 AM

*pins WM badge on Ray for recognising T-Rob's hottness*
*pins WM badge on Temes for hottest list and also well-considered opinions on the men*
*pins WM badge on Sherlock for hottest man list*

Posted by Lucy 07/27/2007 at 01:31 AM

I LOVE YOU D-WIZ

Posted by Ray Stonada 07/27/2007 at 01:31 AM

Gracias for the badge, Lucita. Now, any feelings about Flavia?

Oh my GOD, I forgot ptenisnet, who is truly my number one. He just belongs in a totally different class.

D-Wiz, have I mentioned this lingering crush I have on you?

Posted by Ray Stonada 07/27/2007 at 01:36 AM

And by the way, my dear Snoo Foo, I pioneered Kuzzie-love on this here blog, so let that, engorge your ticker.

Posted by highpockets 07/27/2007 at 01:37 AM

I just got here and it's so late that nobody will notice me. Oh, well ... here's my list:

1. Rafa
2. Lesser Beings (to quote Rosangel)

The hottest sportsman (other than tennis) is Miguel Angel Nadal. I have actually hit "pause" many times to get another look at him.

Just watched "Do You Think You Can Dance" on my DVR ... one of the final 10 contestants (Pasha) is very hott! If you guys want to see some seriously awesome dancers, check out this show in the next few weeks.

Ptenis, your list was priceless.

Rudy3, how'd you like the new Potter book? Anyone else finish it? The book is huge! My son is reading it now and I may wait for the paperback.

Is there anyone out there at all?

Posted by D-Wiz 07/27/2007 at 01:38 AM

Since Tim & Temes have named their top 5 chicas, I feel obliged to name my girl crushes...

5. (tie) Dani Hanti & Anna K (if they'd eat a few sammiches, they'd move up...FAST)
4. (tie) Venus & Serena (Venus cuz she's coo' & Serena cuz she's LIONESS, hear her ROAR)
3. MaKiri (I want to have THAT body -- but not the feet, according to steggy)
2. Ana Ivanovic (so sexaay)
1. STEFFI (the LEGS, in addition to myriad other perceived qualities)!!!

Posted by Lucy 07/27/2007 at 01:41 AM

Way to go D-Wiz. I would turn for Elena D, or at least seriously consider it.

Posted by Ray Stonada 07/27/2007 at 01:41 AM

I, uh, heartily second D-Wiz's list. So heartily.

Posted by D-Wiz 07/27/2007 at 01:44 AM

Oh gawd, let me modify my girl crush list.

5. (tie) Hanti, Kournikova
4. (tie) Venus, Serena
3. (tie) MaKiri, Ana I
2. STEFFI
1. (tie) La Luce, snoo, MrsS

Posted by temes 07/27/2007 at 01:45 AM

Oh Ray, I hope I can still be your number two.

Daniela Hantuchova does nothing for me.

Posted by Sherlock 07/27/2007 at 01:47 AM

Ray, I am honored.

Second to Temes is like losing Wimby to Fed. At least I beat Tim. :)

Thanks for the badge, Lucy. Honored once again. Was that for putting Rafter #1 on my list? :)

I'd take Kuzzie in a heartbeat.

I'd take Steffi in a hundredth of a heartbeat.

Posted by Celia 07/27/2007 at 01:48 AM

Hey highpockets! I finished the HP book Sunday(or I guess it was Monday since I finished it at 3 in the morning). The first 400 pages aren't really interesting, but they build up to the ending, so even though they aren't thrilling, they're important.

Modified AGAIN:

5. Hanti, Anna K
4. Venus, Serena

2. STEFFI & Demmy (yo, 'Lena, you're in RICH company)
1. La Luce, snoo, MrsS

Aww D. You outrank Elena any day of the week, too. Snoo Foo also.

Sherlock, the Rafter thing certainly didn't help, but mostly I'm all about encouraging straight, manly men to appreciate the beauty of other men, right?

Posted by Lucy 07/27/2007 at 01:52 AM

didn't hurt

Posted by highpockets 07/27/2007 at 01:56 AM

Celia, thanks for the info on HP. My son said the first chapter hooks you right away, but he hasn't commented much on the rest yet. 400 pages of "not really interesting" doesn't sound that good to me, but from your comment, I guess it's worth it.

Looks like the boys are taking their turn at listing their hotties on this thread ... as well they should. We girls have certainly had our turn, haven't we?

Posted by Sherlock 07/27/2007 at 01:59 AM

Cool, Lucy. I majored in beauty appreciation in college, so I'm there for you.

Jenn, I'm with your husband on "Field of Dreams". I feel like one of Pavlov's test creatures. Anytime I hear, "Dad, you wanna have a catch?", I turn into a puddle on the floor.

Posted by ptenisnet 07/27/2007 at 02:00 AM

This goes for everyone.

STAY AWAY FROM DEMMY!

Posted by highpockets 07/27/2007 at 02:01 AM
