Three-Set Hit Parade
Posted 12/02/2008 @ 1 :33 PM

Youz Most of you know Master Ace/Patrick Hinton, so most of you know that he is a most thorough and scrupulous student of the game - so much so, in fact, that I am contemplating naming him (whether he likes it or not!) TennisWorld's Official Keeper of the Records - that is, our very own OKRECS. And isn't it just like MA that when I ask him to work up his ATP 10 best matches of 2008, he delivers in two separate categories - three-set and five-set matches? Man, this boy is on fire!

Anyway, I'm going to run his selections in the three-set match category today, and bounce back tomorrow with the five-setters. So get ready to comb your memories of 2008, sub-Slam battles and weigh-in with your comments on MA's Top 10. The group of four Nadal wins in the "best of the rest" list is bound to raise some eyebrows, and note that The Mighty Fed makes just one appearance as a winner in MA's list. That's food for thought, and debate. Just remember, we don't need to re-fight the wars that were left behind on the clay and grass and hard courts in December, do we?

-- Pete

Best 3-set ATP matches:

1 - Rafael Nadal def. Carlos Moya 6-7(3), 7-6(8), 7-6(1): Chennai SF

This almost 4-hour encounter epitomized Nadal's ability - and willingness -  to battle back from behind. He lost the first set in a tiebreaker, battled back from 6-2 down in the second-set breaker, and found himself down a break in the third. Although he won the match, he had nothing left for the final against Mikhail Youzhny. As Andrew Burton said at the time (I'm paraphrasing), Rafael is the best in the ATP today at playing crucial points.

2 -  Rafael Nadal def. Novak Djokovic 7-5, 2-6, 6-2: Hamburg SF

The no. 2 ranking was on the line in this battle, and it proved to be Nadal's springboard to his first Hamburg title - and fuel for his successful quest for the top ranking.

3 -  Andy Murray def. Roger Federer 4-6, 7-6(3), 7-5: Shanghai RR

Roger saved 7 match points serving at 4-5, but on the 8th match point (at 5-6,two games later) he blinked after falling behind 15-40, hitting a forehand long. But the match cost Andy in the semifinals, as Nikolay Davydenko took advantage of the Scotsman's tired legs and took him out in straights. This marked the first time Federer failed to make the semis or better in a season-ending event.

4 - Gilles Simon def. Rafael Nadal 3-6, 7-5, 7-6(6): Madrid SF

It was amazing - and unexpected - to see relative newcomer Simon out-fight Nadal to win; the key was his ability to save numerous break-points. Bear in mind that nobody had a better conversion rate than Nadal in the critical "return games won" category.

5 - Novak Djokovic def. Gilles Simon 4-6, 6-3, 7-5: Shanghai SF

Its hard to overstate the importance of this win for Djokovic, who was something of a forgottten man (thanks to Andy Murray, Gilles Simon and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga) through most of the fall. Novak executed his drop shot consistently to win the match, which set up his routine win over Davydenko and gives him great momentum going into 2009.

6 - Fernando Gonzalez def. James Blake 4-6, 7-5, 11-9: Olympic SF

Did Fernando touch the ball or not? Carlos Bernandes did not think so.

7 - Jo-Wilfried Tsonga def. David Nalbandian 6-3, 4-6, 6-4: Paris Indoors F

This was for the final spot in Shanghai, and Tsonga didn't wilt under the pressure. Nor was he over-awed by Nalbandian's formidable reputation as a sizzling hot late-season player. Tsonga was able to impose his attacking game to suppress one of the game's premier counter-punchers.

(8)  David Ferrer def. Nicolas Almagro 4-6, 6-2, 7-6(4): Valcenia F

Almagro served twice in the final set, bouyed by his status as the two-time defending champ in Valencia. But David dug into his reserves, broke Nicolas twice, and controlled the tiebreak - enabling Ferrer to win his hometown title.

(9) Rafael Nadal def. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 6-7(4), 7-6(3), 7-5: Indian Wells R16

Nadal rallied from a break down in the final set to win. At that time, I thought it a huge win for Rafael, given how convincingly Jo-Wilfried had handled him at the Australian Open.

10 -  Mikhail Youzhny def.  Nicolas Almagro 7-6(4), 3-6, 7-6(6): Key Biscayne R32

What most people (hello, You-Tube!) will remember a lot longer than the name "Almagro" or the setting is the brutal self-discipline Youzhny inflicted on himself during this match, repeatedly banging his strings against his forehead until blood gushed down his face.

Best of the rest:

Andy Roddick def. Feliciano Lopez 6-7(8), 6-4, 6-2: Dubai F

Andy Roddick def. Roger Federer 7-6(4),4-6,6-3 : Key Biscayne QF

Roger Federer def. David Nalbandian 5-7,6-2,6-2:  Monte Carlo QF

Andreas Seppi def. Nicolas Kiefer 6-3,5-7,7-5 : Hamburg QF

Rafael Nadal def. Roger Federer 7-5, 6-7(3), 6-3 – Hamburg F

Rafael Nadal def. Kei Nishikori 6-4, 3-6, 6-3: Queens R16

Rafael Nadal def. Novak Djokovic 7-6(6), 7-5: Queens F

Rafael Nadal def. Novak Djokovic 6-4, 1-6, 6-4: Olympic SF

Andy Murray def. Roger Federer 3-6, 6-3, 7-5: Madrid SF

Nikolay Davydenko def. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 6-7(6), 6-4, 7-6(0): Shanghai RR

Excellent list MA/OKRECS/Patrick. I've seen most of these matches.
But missed the Nadal-Moya battle and Roddick's run in Dubai.
Caught a bit of higlights in YouTube . . . and I'm sure I can count on you to tell me when TTC or ESPN or some other channel replays those. :)

*sings Master Ace Tribute Song*

Back to give sensible opinions later!

I'm liking this list. Just started watching your #1 pick, Moya-Chennai, on DVD, a few sets each evening. Really fine.

new FEDERER's SHEDULE 2009

he is not playing MONTE CARLO!!!! it is 1000 masters?!

http://www.rogerfederer.com/en/rogers/schedule/index.cfm

still will be No.1

Thanks for the write up MA & Pete!

Master Ace: Good choices, as always.. Apart from the brutal self-discipline exercise inflicted by Youzhny, I thought it was a very high-quality match. Particularly, I remember watching 1 amazing rally featured as the 'Play of the week' - will post the youtube link as soon as I go home.

*joins jewell in chorusing MATS*
YAY . . . .Gilles was on the List!!!!!!!LOL

I really don't see how 5, 7 or 9 deserve to be on there. All very good, even great matches, but above Nadal and Djokovic in the Olympics? Roddick and Federer in Miami? Seems like people are remembering the most recent stuff best. I don't know, I just don't see it.

master ace, aka patrick hinton, couldnt agree more with your no 1 choice,Nadal is the master of play on crucial points, the match was a excellent example of it,also we have seen throughout the year,Rafa has a excellent tennis brain, many times over,on big points he alsways used the correct shot, under pressure, another reason he is a champion and the no 1 player,at age 22.

5 and 7, possibly the context, Novak and Tsonga, both their years had kind of fallen apart - so to win was very important - anyway that's my opinion, didn't see either, just followed them, so can't really judge. But imagine if Novak had lost - no Shanghai title - there would've been lots of obituary-writing.

HEYLO JEWELL AND AM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, Pete, you should definitely give Master Ace some sort of official TW title. :)

jacko good morning, hows tricks with you? lol!

#9 in the final set, Rafa was down 2-5 and Tsonga was crowing...prematurely, as it turns out. Truly a great match and example of Rafa winning points when it matters most.

hey Jacko and AM. :)

nuthin much goin on here a.m. . .. .. just listening to . . .DISNEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOL

jewell good morning,my story finished yet?

jacko i love the irish band,Snow Patrol, have brought 2 of the cd's. they are just brillant! yeah to Ireland lol!!!

headless poster aussiemarg at 2.53pm

Snow Patrol are GREAT!!!!LOL

AM - not yet. :) We are all bouncing about on the other thread following Cash and Edberg at the Black Rock Masters.

Once again, thank you for sharing your picks, MA/Patrick! Wish Fed/Nalby made the cut. :(

(Goes without saying, but I'm rather tickled that Hubby appears in the list twice!)

jewell Eberg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! master of the VOLLEY!!

Miss Jackie O you must be pleased as punch, hubby appearing on the most important List of 2008!!!!

The top two are the matches I most wish I'd seen last year. Seen highlights but not quite the same. :)

I expected Rafa to feature quite a bit because of his way of never being beaten until he is, i.e., lots of comebacks, but I'm mildly surprised at how many times Novak's name is there. In a good way, that is.

aussiemarg: You know me well. And both matches were in the top 5 - not too shabby. :) Honestly, he's such a fun player to watch (and I'd think that even if he weren't my husband ;)). Here's hoping he brings the house down many more times in '09.

Miis Jackie O i cant wait to see hubby play,at the Sydney Medibank,2009,also moi will keep extra eye out, well you know what i mean, moi will make sure, those female fans, dont get too close!

aussiemarg: PLEASE do. Even the girlfriend (if she's there) - shove her out of the way, yeah? ;)

For me, my favorite part of the season is the clay season through Wimby, but this serves as a nice reminder of how much good tennis is still being played right up to the end with 3 of the top 10ers being played after the USO. I've seen many of these matches. This was really a great year for the ATP - from Novak to the crowning of Rafa to Roger's resurgence to the emergence of Murray.

miss jackie O thinking of the most wonderful ways,to have girlfriend, disappear at the Sydney Medibank,2009,dont worry girl, leave everything to moi!!!

Master Ace, job well done!! I saw most of the matches on your list and they were definitely full of a lot of high quality tennis. Some of the ones that stand out to me on the list are;
1. Rafael Nadal def. Novak Djokovic 7-5, 2-6, 6-2: Hamburg SF

I remember watching this match at the very edge of my seat. The intensity that both players played with was unbelievable! I remember the look/snarl/incredibly arched eyebrow Nadal had every time a game ended, or they switched sides. He knew that his No.2 position was on the line and he damn well played like it. Djokovic was no slouch either. So that was definitely one of the best 3 set matches that I watched.

2. Rafael Nadal def. Roger Federer 7-5, 6-7(3), 6-3 – Hamburg F

3. Rafael Nadal def. Novak Djokovic 7-6(6), 7-5: Queens F

This match epitomized Nadal's growth on grass, IMHO. He played with the confidence of someone who knows he can do what he wants with the ball. His backhand was penetrating the court. His forehand did plenty of damage. His focus never wavered. He played like he knew he could win and he wanted to win. And when he did, I knew that Wimbledon was not far at all. Boy was it good to see that!

4. Andy Murray def. Roger Federer 4-6, 7-6(3), 7-5: Shanghai RR

Hmmm... Rafa features a lot in my picks. Oh well, they really were great matches. And thinking about all this great tennis has made me miss my fave players!! Nadal, Federer... I need to see them play ASAP! January had better come around real soon.

Can't wait to see the best of 5 set picks.

JACKO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOL.

How are you, Ringo????! Check out our song list! It's hilarious! Somewhere on Your Call, 30 I think.... Or... the My Death Star post... not sure...

The Nadal/Djokovic Olympic semi and the Roddick/Federer Miami QF would replace the Youzhny/Almagro and the Ferrer/Almagro matches in my mind, but this is a terrific list. Kudos.

calbero yeah to the clay season!, always thought grass was for cows period! as tennis fans,we saw the match of the decade, played on the grass, people will argue, the grass is made slower, hey, what, the plain fact it was grass,i knew after Rafa had won Queens,he had a great shot,of winning Wimbeldon, wow, what a match,it will be always talked about, gee we are so lucky,we witnessed this incredible match.

Good list, MA!!!! Your knowledge, impartiality and insight is truly beyond any of us dullards :D

Pete! Now we're going to have an OKRECs???? Yay. Who better to have the post than Master Ace!!! LOL.

I suggest we have Official Player Trackers/Watchers/Record keepers/Correspondents!!! I willingly volunteer to be Roger's <3 <3 <3 LOLLLLL.

MATS: the list is superb. thought Nadal/djoko at Queens and Nadal/FEd at hamburg would have made the list for sheer tennis fantasticness. but then which of the top ten would you drop. so you a great job as always. I like calling you mats. were you a wilander fan? i looovvvvedd him!! would you like to be master ace tennis statistician?

AM: snow patrol is awesome!! did not know they were irish..cool

I like Chasing Cars!!!!

That's... pretty much it. Hmm.

AM: i'm hoping my wimby dvd comes today. i am dying to see the whole match again!

Moi is playing the Snow Pattol,as we speak, wow, amazing!!!!!!

annie i have rewatched that match 5 times already, love watching, love the result, vamos Rafa.

i'm also getting the 07 final. might be hard to watch rafa in tears.

hey guys, is that a picture of youzny before the bloodletting?

Annie!!!!!!!! Rafa in tears at Wimby 2007??!!! Grrrr.... nothing compared to Roger at Wimby 2008! The agony! The anguish! Noooooooooooooo. Don't let me relive it..... my eyes well up with tears....

I was never the same again after that day. *holds back tears by thinking of Roger smiling at the USO* :')

annie that match with Youzny was bizarre,to say the least,i just sat there, couldnt not believe what he did, even the commentators were stunned!

What match? What match???????? What Youzhny match??????? Temme temme temme!!!!! LOL. No really... what?! :S

Maha baby calm down!!! we're talking about the match where he kept banging his head with his raquet. now i've got to see it on youtube. maybe mastertennistv has the whole thing in the archive. but is that a picture of him at the top? who is that?

Moi cried and cried throughout the Wimbledon 2008,when our boy finally won, looked across at my daughter,we both hugged each other, then both of us,just sat and cried, all over again, the most emotional match ever, for me,anyway, have said this before,Rafa brought the passion out in me,when he appeared on the atp,i loved agassi for the same reasons, but rafa to me has surpassed him,i have had the pleasure of watching play live, met him, when he comes on court,he brings everything there,he takes you on this incredible ride, all the pressure, the big points, his facial expressions are to die for,to me,he is my boy, someone i have the most upmost respect for,the greatest clay court player i have seen, vamos Rafa.

Maha: are you talking about roger getting choked up when he was talking to mac after the match? I thought he was very composed considering the battle he'd just been through. but geez the guys got 5 loving cups already, no?
i cannot believe he's not playing monte carlo!! is he going to retire on clay or something? what gives?

Annie, that's indeed the Youzh. And as far as I know, that pic wasn't taken during the infamous match. (As MA noted, that match happened in Miami. Hards. Evening. Above pic looks like he's on clay.)

Here's a clip:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fi-CgSO9Evw

good list! still think djoko vs. nadal hamburg should be number 1 though.... in any case its a great list

AM: you are in a passionate rafa-lovin mood today! I loved agassi too. but agree rafa is really special. very nice. did not know you had the pleasure of meeting the man. do tell.

Maha . . ..i've seen the song titles . . . .. . i did sum lurking yesterday as i was too busy to post!!!!!!LOL. . . . . .i love them all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOL

Jacko, have you checked out the album per your handle? I've been listening to it for the past several days - really like "Blur" at the moment. :)

MA, excellent list. Rafa/Novak Hamburg was palpably electrifying and significant, Rafa/Charlie Chennai match was brutal, the Olympic match, special.

Jackie. . . . i just love ALL BRITNEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOL . . .. . . . if u seek amy. . . and Kill the Lights!!!!!! . . . . . . . . and ironically Jackie. . ..i was about to change my mantra. . . . to sumthing a little more disney related. . .i'm having a Disney WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOL

LOL Annie, I'm calm. Yeah the pic on top is Blue Suede Youzh.
I'm talking about his calmness AND his choking-ness-ness!!!! In fact, his composure after the loss was even more hard-hitting than it would have been if he'd blown and started crying with his head in his hands... I remember Rafa had his head down and tears down his cheeks last year after the final.... this year, Federer... he just stared straight ahead with a seemingly blank expression. But those who love him so much saw through that rigid face into the depths of anguish below..... every inch of his face was covered in agony and misery! Oh how I cried. :'''''(
And then... when he spoke to JMac, that made me cry even more! But then I recovered (sort of) because at least he'd let some of it out!!!! Before the ceremony, just after... *choke* he lost... his face was.... HEART-BREAKING. :'( *resists urge to cry all over again*

Roger, you must not let this happen to me again. :'(

well moi is putting on her flipper feet, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, swimming, wow cant wait, check later...........

Maha: Excellent post @ 3:53!

Disney and Britney ... suddenly I feel very old! ;)

And I only just realized the play on words with "If U Seek Amy." Brit is one naughty gal.

*jealous of Jacko's Disney week and seriously craving a dose of The Lion King and HoND and Hercules* LOL Jacko, the songs are amazing, innit!!!

Thank you, Arun! I just let my true feelings out!!!! :') May Roger prosper and win Wimby, and much more, in 2009, and avenge the heartbreak of this year. I cannot see that expression on his face again. :'(

maha: i added a couple of titles today on the other post. do we have one place where we can go add to the list or what? do you want me to post them again here?

Hmmm Annie, maybe you can post them on... hey are you on the facebook TW group? If so, join SFLHCB group on facebook too! It's there by it's full name, you'll have to send me a request to join because it's a closed group, don't worry I will most certainly accept :D.... but wait till Friday for me to accept because fb is blocked on the school internet during weekdays! Once I accept you in you can start posting any song suggestions you want!!!

You can just post them here for now... just so we have an idea!!!! LOL I love new suggestions!

Jackie: thanks for the youzny clip. wow. not a bad looking fellow but mildly unstable maybe?

AM AM i want to hear your rafa story!!! when you come back okay?

Maha. . . . i've just got Someday, God Help the outcasts . . . .. . all the songs from snow white, hercules, and beauty and the beast today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOL

Jackie. . . . i don't get the naughty ness of if u seek amy. . . explain!!!!!!LOL. . . or maybe i'm just a very filthy-minded person and aren't that alarmed by it!!!!!!!LOL

Annie, funny you should say that ... as I was re-watching the clip, I kept thinking, "He's quite a looker." Not sure what that says about me.

Oh, Jacko, I don't want to be THAT person. I'll let you figure it out on your own. Just say the title slowlyyyyy.

Got it Jackie. . . . . . oh. . . . . . i had figured it out. . . .but it never really . . . . .. came to a realisation . . .i was like . . .hey that sounds like blah blah blah. . . . . but then i just kept listening to the album!!!!!!LOL. . .. . . . well it was the weekend!!!!LOL .. . . thats also known as brain-shut-down time!!!!!!!LOL

Well! Looks like the Social Director is teaching some naughty stuff for the high-school kids. :)

ugh arun . . .. . if the world was running properly for me . . . . . i being the male teenager. . . would be doing all the teaching!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOL

JACKO!!!!! Noooo. *madly angry* I can play God Help the Outcasts on piano! Well... I could once upon a time... and I can sing it too!!! Mwahwahwahwahwaha.

*goes on youtube for Disney songs*

What to do when you're stuck in boarding school!!! I need Disney!!!! Will be home for Christmas holidays in.... *gasp*... 11 days!!! Then I can get all the Disney movie watching I need! My extensive collection back home will not disappoint! YAYY!!!

LOL Jacko! Without a doubt...

I don't know if #6 was one of the best matches of 2008 because, unfortunately, all I remember about it is that Gonzalez did hit the ball, he knew he had hit the ball, and he refused to admit that he had.

But, as Pete said, we shouldn't re-fight the wars, so please ignore me. :)

WHAT naughty stuff????? *makes genuinely innocent and confused face*
I'm still affected by memories of Wimby 2008. :'( CRYYYYYYYYYYYY.

Arun, I better be careful.

NO WAY MAHA!!! . . .i'm not off till around the 23rd!!!!LOL. . . . . .but this is my favourite time of year . . . .cos i'm always off classes doing christmas carols, etc!!!LOL . . . ...
my disney collection is huge too!!!!!. . . .ugh my piano teacher. . .is gonna teach me how to play more modern songs to sing and disney ones. . . ..when i improve!!!!LOL. . ... . .but until then. . .. .its waltzes and gavottes . .. . . and the occasional rag!!!LOL

LOL Jacko!!! I have a Disney piano book.... can't play some of them seeing as I'm complete crap in some ways... I don't do grade piano... just play it and take lessons where my teacher throws anything my way, from Grade 1 to Grade 5! LOL. But the Disney book is at home... when I get home I'll play all of them! All of them!!! MWAHWAHWAHWAHA.

*listening to "I'll make a man out you" which is amazing"

Re RF's 2009 schedule:

Seems quite over-full, especially given his agent's statement about conserving his energy for the Grand Slams. Scratching M.C. is a good idea. One of the clay 100's had to go, and M.C. is probably the best to ditch because that court plays completely to Nadal's strenghths.

RF will probably also scratch at least Kooyong and Tokyo (5 Fall tounaments plus possible DC is way too much). He should also drop Paris/Bercy like a hot potato, leaving it as it should be: the extraneous Masters (1000) opportunity for the second-raters to compete for in their final event of the year. Rafa should stay away from it also.

I argued in these pages weeks before (on the eve of Madrid) that Roger should not play Paris due to risk of fatigue and injury. As usual, I was blithely criticized and rebutted by some here. Well, look what happened! Roger foolishly played at Paris, injured his back, and ruined his chances for a 3rd straight Masters Cup. Let's hope that this needless injury will be gone by January. Bercy is a carbunkle on the schedule and is not worth it, Roger. Ditch it from now on! You're 27 now: take good care of your health.

Maha .. . Gospel Truth is better!!!!LOL . . . . . .. my aunt is a music teacher. . .and piano teacher. . .and she's cuming home from NYC for Xmas. . . . and weneva she cums back she always brings music books. . .maybe now one for piano since i've started that!!!LOL . . .although i do hav a book of disney songs for Trumpet. . . . . .!!LOL

Nooo!!!! Tigress! He MUST play Bercy! Because... err.... he needs to prove his GOATnessness by winning EVERYTHING he has not won before!!! See what I mean?! :D Although it could complicate things if he'd have to scrap favourite tournaments and all.... nah... *brain pain*

Black Matt,
It was a tough call b/w a lot of 3 set matches and Roddick/Federer and the top 10.

Annie,
Thanks as it was a tough job. The 5 setters were the toughest of them all.

Blake,
Can understand why you would flip-flop Ferrer/Almagro and Youzhny(pictured above)/Almagro for Nadal/Djokovic and Roddick/Federer.

He cannot drop bercy.

HAHAH Jacko! The best is Can you Feel the Love Tonight... which I DID learn to play from my piano book but... once I learned to read music better, I realised that, although I as playing the right sequence of notes... I was playing the completely wrong key to the one in the books! LOLLLLL. And also.... I Won't Say I'm in Love, Part of That World, We Are One, Reflection, Bells of Notre Dame, A Star is Born, Circle of Life, and so many others!!!! GRRR I love Disney, except the real soppy ones like Snow White and Sleeping Beauty! Although... Once Upon a Dream is nice, I'll admit! It applies to me... regarding Roger!!!
Seriously... come to think of it... I can TOTALLY sing this song for Roger!!!!

I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream.... I know you, that gleam in your eyes is so familiar a gleam.... That completely drives me crazy for you.... LOL I know that wasn't part of the song.... oh Roger!!!!! <3 <3 <3

Maha . . . i LOVE all them songs. . . .and i Love Snow White. . Sleeping Beauty . . . .. Cinderella. . . .etc!!!!!!!!!!!!LOL
I can play can you feel the love tonite. . .on my horn!!!LOL. .. . . . . .. . . . .

Sorry, but I don't consider Snow Patrol to be "Irish". With members from Northern Ireland and Scotland, they are clearly British!

Back on topic, I missed a lot of these matches - due to not having Tennis Channel, not having yet familiarized myself with the wonderful world of justin streams, and spending four months in a crazy country that doesn't show enough tennis. If it weren't for BOSNIAN television, I would have missed the Olympics matches, too. But where was I for the number 1 match? Surely Chennai happened while I was still here. Guess I have only myself to blame there.

Master Ace - thanks for always dealing with facts and figures and the keeping of the records. I've always counted on you to be the record-keeper when I'm too lazy. Don't know if I've ever expressed my gratitude before.

Tina. . . .. i consider them . . . . .Anglo-Irish!!!!!LOL

HAHAHHAHAHA. Jacko, this is hilarious. Two mad teenagers yapping on and on about the wonderful awesomeness of Disney... on a TENNIS blog!!!! LOLLLLL.

Maha they shud make a computer game. . . with Disney characters. . . playing tennis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOL

Jacko.... you are loony. Completely nuts. Quite like me.
Today is school I was fretting over not having got my Roger poster by post yet and that I had already made space on my wall for it! My friend Hettir stared up at the ceiling and shook her head.... clearly she thinks I'm hopeless!

*kisses Wimbledon DVD*

I can't wait for the five-setters. :)

I thought they had to play in Paris, don't they get fined if they don't? Although I suppose one could choose to pay the fine.

LOL MAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i spent all my day in a really flirty mood. . . . . . . . .i was sooo out of it today!!!!LOL. . . . . ..
and we had the funniest maths class today!!!!!!!!!LOL

JACKO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Brilliant idea!!!!! Disney characters!!!!! And it should be two-player or doubles too... You and I can have a face-off! I will be the Roger Federer of DISNEY.... SIMBA!!!! I LOVE Simba!!!! My favourite!!!! In fact I like Kovu from the Lion King 2, too!

To me "Anglo-Irish" is a contradiction in terms. As are the words "awesomeness of Disney". (don't worry, I'm literally getting "me" coat to go for coffee) Maybe I'll come back later to discuss how totally un-awesome Walt Disney really was.

"A really flirty mood"????????? Jacko, you fiend :P What's that s'posed to mean!!!!

tina!!!!!!!! Who cares about WALT DISNEY????? Jacko and I love DISNEY FILMS!!!!! Hahahaha.

Jacko, I mean... Ringo, this John is going to be more contrary than we thought... the band may have issues.... LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i love Kovu!!!!!LOL . .... . i think i wud be. . . either copper from fox and the hound. . . or one of the disney princesses. . . . snow white. . . . . .Meg. . ... . Cinderella. . . . . .they look like they'd have killer dropshots. . . . except snow white . . . . seems more like a sharapova!!!!!!LOL .. . . and pocahantas is the Disney JJ!!!!LOL. . . how fast was she tp run and save john smith??!!!!!LOL

K. . . . i gotta go . . .i think . . . . . i may be doing some more posting. . .but if not. . .NITE!!!!!!!!!!LOL

tina . . .i never saw walt disney before. . . so have no opinion on him . ..but he led to some of the best moments of my childhood!!!!!!LOL. . . . and in history. . . . .irish people born while ireland was a part of Britain .. . were considered. . .Anglo-Irish . . .thats where i took the name from!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOL

I agree Pete, Patrick deserves the title. Whenever I want information I can count on him. Go Patrick, TW's keeper of record. I can't wait for the AO. I think the big 3 contenders are the Williamses and Sharapova. Hopefully, her shoulder is better and she can make a good run of it. Ana, I would love to include her, but there is something wrong with her game that I can't figure out. As for Jelena, I don't believe her game translate to a slam winner due to the weak serve and the lack of a go to shot that can hurt the top players. Go Caroline, Scandinavia's#1!

HAHAHAHAHAHHA Jacko.... Pocahontas COULD be the Disney JJ!!!!
I stick to Simba! I love Simba!!!! My favourite Disney character EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!

And why not? People here were making similar statements at the time of Madrid. Playing Bercy was a unmitigated disaster for Roger. Between his back problems and post-mono questions (I'm still not convinced that he has completely recovered yet), Roger needs to be very wary of over-exerting himself by overplaying.

Jacko, you're very cute, I always get a laugh out of your post.

YAY Samantha!!!!!!LOL . . . . . . . .Thank You. . . . . . i'm glad that i can give everyone a laugh . . . . . .even though our WTA views may differ!!!!!!!!LOL . . . .although i do expect big things from Caroline in 09!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOL
