That's what I was expecting last set -- Rog getting the break after sketchy serving from Berdych. Poor 1st serve % is the thing I'd worry about for Berdy.

Not exactly. "Taipei" is the capital city of Taiwan. "Taiwan" is the name of the entire island/country. Roger took the one chance he had, which is important, but Birdy is outplaying him from the baseline even in set number 2, which is begining to be trend. How many FH winners does Roger have? Can't be many.

the real question for me really, is not why fed is slipping....its very obvious in EVERY MATCH that he cant play like before....how much down he is, is debatable from match to match....but the real question is...how is this guy still hanging around with the big guns without getting blown completely out of it!
i.e. what in his game is still sustaining and giving him a toehold and not fall completely off the cliff !

High fives sokol, the girls did it. Vesnina you star, you own the court today. She did not lose her serve at all. As Wally Masur commented she played a very tactful game. I really like Vera in doubles, no towel over her head and smiling. Vesnina is loving it, signing autographs and smiling.

And the upsets continue for a third straight day......the difference was Vesnina and a slump venus is in, and I really hope she can get out of it before July.

The net is not Berdman's friend. An important weakness.

His forehand is something to behold though, he hits it so casually and yet it has so much power, accelerating through the court.

This is the 2nd time Elena has defeated Venus in a big doubles match. First one was the Fed Cup SF in 2007 where she and Nadia defeated Venus and Lisa, who is unbeaten on grass this year.

Another clutch hold from Berdy that he shouldn't have had to make in the first place. He should really think about not going AWOL in the middle of his service games.

Of cause she wanted the claendar slam, but she doesn't look like she much cares about losing--she doesn't look like she's in a funk. The Russians can have their win--they earned it; but let's not go overboard.
