Glad to see him back in action again even though I'm a Fed fan :)

Both Roger and Rafa are too good not to be in contention at Grand Slams or for #1. As this article points out, Rafa always has a great 4-6 month reign each year - obviously including the clay season. But he's usually not much of a factor during the Autumn. I don't see that changing any time soon.
Honestly, I don't see either Fed or Nadal dominating 2010 - the guys behind them are going to beat them a few times. We've already seen it with Davydenko taking them both out in Doha.

interesting analysis.
emphasizing that confidence is the fuel for Nadal's bold physical tactics (and not the other way around)
seems to minimize how lost Nadal is w/o his body.
o liken 2010 to all the other hyears is to ignore the past 11 months...a much longer stretch of lost form than any past pattern.
this difference must also include the mental strain of his parents' divorce and the cumulative wear & tear of years on the tour. his knees are not better or even the same. they are worse.

i would love to see rafa win a grand slam this year but like many other people who have commented on this article, i don't see it happening right away. i think he has to work out his confidence issues before anything else because that is what fuels him the most. however, i strongly believe that rafa will have a 'good' year as he improves his technique and tries to fall back into his rhythm. vamos rafa!
